Ananas

We’re all acquainted with that delightfully sweet juicy yellow fruit we can buy in the summer from markets or the greengrocer. Columbus discovered the pineapple on Guadeloupe, but did you know that there are also ornamental pineapples? These have smaller fruits that look like a pineapple popping up from the middle of a Bromeliad. Their colour is also a few shades deeper.

They may not be grown for consumption, but with a little luck and a little patience, you can actually bite into their orange-red fruit.
